I’ve always been impressed with those who can take overwhelming
things and handle them with ease and poise.  It never seemed
to work that way for me, until I discovered the secret for
tackling those daunting tasks.

The secret is simple:  make things simple!

With just about every major undertaking, things can be simplified
into a handful of “core” components.  That makes them manageable.
Manageable fosters productivity simply because I can work on
something that seems accomplishable.  And when productivity goes
up, desired results come.

I received the following question from one of my clients…

“If you have to pick, what would you say are the top 2 or 3
things we should concentrate on? I’ve heard the
domain/site(blog) are the most important, then others say
writing info products, others say lists. For short term and
long term investment, what is the most important things to
be working on?”

This client wants things simplified.  And rightly so.  He knows
the secret to success is getting things down into manageable
chunks.

So, what are these core practices for building an internet
business?  There are three things – and three things only – that
you need to concentrate on with your business…

1. Offer Development.

You cannot make money online unless you have an OFFER. It’s that
simple. Unless there is some way for income to be generated, you
can’t get paid. End of discussion. Every business is founded
upon a revenue-generating offer. Now, this can either be your
own offer (small reports, ebooks, memberhip sites, coaching/consulting,
advertising, etc.) or something you promote as an affiliate and
earn revenue for referred sales.

2. List Marketing.

The fortune is in the list. You’ve heard it an untold number of
times in the past, right? Building and profiting from opt-in lists
should be a major priority on your schedule. You need to devote
yourself to attracting new subscribers and then getting all of
your subscribers to spend money with you … by purchasing your
OFFERS (see #1 above).

3. Traffic.

The third and final thing you need to concentrate on is “traffic”.
This includes both traffic GENERATION (getting visitors to a site)
and traffic CONVERSION (getting that traffic to buy). This includes
things like: starting an affiliate program, buying PPC ads,
participating in joint ventures, utilizing viral marketing tools,
raising your visitor value, tweaking your sales pages, etc.

With each of these categories, you have a variety of options to choose
from in directing your attention. It would be foolish for me to say
“grow your affiliate program” as your number # traffic activity since
I don’t know if you even have your own product to sell. That’s why I
don’t recommend specific activities, but rather three key categories
of business-building.

With each of these categories, find 2-3 activities to work on each
week and you should see results in a short amount of time.

I recommend you work on offer development every Monday, list marketing
every Tuesday, and traffic generation every Wednesday.  If you just
spend a couple hours each of these days working on these core parts
of your business, sales should come.

In a nutshell -

-    Find an offer to promote.
-    Setup a list to promote the offer.
-    Drive traffic to the list opt-in page.

Keep it simple.  Keep it successful.

How To Create A “Buyers Only”

Content is king. It gets to wear the crown. And sit on
the throne. And rule the world. When it comes to
establishing credibility, gaining trust and producing
sales, content is royalty.

While I would never suggest abandoning the concept of
delivering high quality content to your subscribers, there
is another type of list composed of subscribers who couldn’t
care less about content.

“What is this type of list?” you ask.

- > The “announcement list”.

I’ve been teaching about the “announcement” list since
at least 2002 (on record at an event). And, yet, it’s a
widely untapped asset in most email marketing circles.

The main reason is: nobody’s teaching it. And so,
nobody knows anything about it, let alone how to effectively
create one of these lists.

So, we’re going to revisit it.

——————————————————-
What Is An “Announcement” List?
——————————————————-

DEFINED: An announcement list is a list whose sole purpose
is to “announce” (I.E. Inform, notify) when something new
is available for review, consumption or purchase.

In other words, it unapologetically says, “Hey, I just
released XYZ. Come check it out!”

Now, at first glance you may be thinking, “Who would join a
list that offers no content and only sales pitch?”

If you say it that way, it doesn’t sound too good to me
either! That’s why you don’t say it that way. Let’s take
a look at HOW to “say it”…

——————————————————-
How About An Example “Announcement” List?
——————————————————-

If you go to this site:
http://PLRSO.com
you’ll find a textbook example of this concept. PLRSO
stands for “Private Label Rights Special Offers” I
established this list for the sole purpose of informing
people anytime I have a new PLR offer available for them
to buy.

That’s it.

I don’t send out ezine articles to them. No newsletters.
They don’t get blog posts. There aren’t any special reports.
No content of any kind. What they get, in essence, are
sales messages.

And there are already 2,822 subscribers, many of which
have already purchased some of the PLR special offers that
have been “announced” to the list.

Why does it work? Let me give you plenty of reasons…

1. I took something that was “in-demand” (PLR) and I allow
people to get a head-start on the world by knowing about
new releases FIRST by joining this list.

2. It’s not billed as an “announcement list”, but rather
a “Free PLR Club”. Big, big difference in perception.

3. It has it’s own domain name, further adding to the
perceived value and importance to those who join.

4. There is no requirement to buy once you join. Buy the
offers that you want, pass on the ones you don’t want.

5. A cost example is provided to show what you can
buy immediately, further illustrating the value of the
complimentary “membership”.

And here’s the big twist that makes this idea of creating
an “announcement” list a complete no-brainer…

I allow my affiliates to “give away” no cost memberships
to the PLRSO club!

When someone they refer buys one of the offers, they earn
a commission. And I get other people to promote and build
my list for me. We all win.

So, you may be thinking…

——————————————————-
What Kind Of “Announcement” List can I Build?
——————————————————-

There are a wide variety of “announcement” lists that you
can build. Let’s briefly look at ten of them…

* PLR List. You can swipe my idea and create a list of
private label rights buyers.

* New Offers List. Build a list of people who love your
work and want to be notified any time you have a new
offer available.

* Pre-Launch List. Create buzz and anticipation for an
upcoming new product release by building a pre-launch
list several weeks (even months) in advance.

* Ezine Publishers List. Build a list of publishers who
want to know any time you have a new ezine article
that is available for reprint in their ezines.

* Bloggers List. Another idea is to allow bloggers who
are looking for ready-made content to post to their blogs.

* Industry News List. How about becoming the “go to”
guy or gal to share breaking news about your industry?

* Joint Venture List. Develop a list of partners and
affiliates who are ready to promote anytime you have a
new offer.

* Incentives List. Here’s a great idea – create a list of
people who you offer “incentives” to when they purchase
someone else’s new product through YOUR affiliate link.

* Freebie List. Regularly give away rebrandable content
(reports, articles, videos, etc.) to these subscribers
to earn commissions.

While all ten of these lists aren’t necessarily “buyers”
up front, they each can certainly lead to buyers and revenue
for you if you implement them.

Content is king. But let’s not forget that there are alot
of queens, princes, dukes and earls out there too.

Busting 5 Myths about Affiliate Marketing

In today’s world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate. While I was gathering facts for this article, I was quite surprised to find some of the issues I thought were settled are actually still being openly discussed.

Most of this information comes straight from the affiliate marketing pros. Careful reading to the end virtually guarantees that you’ll know what they know.

Affiliate Marketing is a business that one can sell other people’s products and earn commissions from product owner through an affiliate program. The sales are tracked through special links that are provided to you (the affiliate marketer) which you then place within the form of marketing you choose to promote the product with.

Affiliate Marketing has gotten a bad rap in years past, so it’s time to educate aspiring business owners about the truth behind this legitimate business. Let’s start by exposing those myths and telling the truth about Affiliate Marketing and how it is a potential money maker!

Myth #1 – It’s just another get rich quick scheme.

Truth- This myth probably originated around the time Internet frauds and scams hit an all time high. Most people aren’t aware of what affiliate marketing is and probably heard others who’ve said they made a lot of money from it, so they assumed it fell into the scam category.

The truth is that it’s a legitimate business that you earn income from, but you will not get rich quick. It takes a lot of time and work to make it a success.

Myth #2 – It’s a waste of time. No one will want the junk you would be selling anyway.

Truth- First of all, you aren’t selling junk. You pick the items yourself and research them to see whether or not they’re worth the effort. When you find good quality products and work hard selling them, you will earn some decent commissions, so the time would not be wasted. You get out of it, what you put into it.

Myth #3 – Affiliate Marketing sites sell themselves.

Truth- The only way these sites will actually sell themselves is if you work hard to provide the best possible site and use the best possible marketing methods. You will still need to work hard to get the results you want, so technically the sites don’t sell themselves.

Myth #4 – You can make money overnight!

Truth- Most affiliate marketers would love it if this were true. But, unfortunately, it’s not. It will take quite a bit of time to get the ball rolling for you to find what works and doesn’t work. When you finally get on your feet and know how the process works effectively, then you can start earning more money. It won’t come overnight.

That being said, once you discover how to make that money, then yes, it is possible to go to sleep one night with X amount of dollars in your Paypal account and wake up to more. That’s where making money overnight comes into play, but that doesn’t mean you just throw a link on your site one day and wake up the next with a hefty account balance.

Myths #5 – Just build a website. Your customers will find you.

Truth- This holds some truth to it, but it’s lacking some details. You will need a website to sell affiliate products from, but customers aren’t going to find you unless you market, market and market some more. Just because you publish a site on the World Wide Web, does not guarantee everyone out there is going to stumble upon your site. You need to get your site out there and let it find them!

Affiliate Marketing is a legitimate business that you can make money from. It’s like any other small business. You have to work hard at making it a success. The rewards of your hard work and dedication can be great once you get your business gets up and running.

Now that the affiliate marketing myths have been busted, and the truth is out, you are well informed that affiliate marketing is not a fly by night scheme to make quick money. It’s a business like any other and should rightfully be thought of as such.

I hope the sections above have contributed to your understanding of these five affiliate marketing myths. Share your new understanding about affiliate marketing myths with others. They’ll thank you for it.
